Robert J. Ryan, CPA (Bob), a founding partner Riley & Ryan P.C., has been in public accounting for over thirty years.
He played an instrumental role in the merger of O’Brien & O’Brien with Riley & Ryan in 2000, which came to be known as O’Brien, Riley, and Ryan, P.C.
Prior to starting the firm, he was associated with Coopers and Lybrand, now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC).
Professional Background
Bob’s practical experience with a diverse group of businesses and industries, provides extensive knowledge in financial and business reporting, auditing, internal controls, tax planning and reporting , cash management, pricing strategies, raising capital, and compliance with government regulations.
He has designed, developed, and implemented systems for budgetary reporting and financial reporting. Further, Bob has developed budgeted overhead rates for contract purposes to maximize client cash flow and implemented cost control and pricing strategies. Until 2015, he was the ERISA Benefit Plan Audit Practice Group partner, which supports over thirty-five benefit plan audit clients.
Throughout his career, Bob has developed in-depth knowledge in some specific industries, and has had significant exposure to clients in real estate development, construction, not-for-profit organizations, financial services, automotive dealerships, specialty foods, and the information technology sector.

He is a graduate of Boston College and a member of:
- the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA),
- and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Bob has served in various capacities for a wide variety of charitable organizations. He is a past President of the Board of Milton Residences for the Elderly (“MRE”), which is a non-profit organization that owns or manages approximately 440 units of elderly housing, a corporator of Milton Hospital, and a former board member of the Board of Governors of the Milton Hoosic Club.
